Women with disabilities are at risk of violence.
They experience violence very often
and from many people.
They have few people they can complain to
and are often afraid to go to the police.
There are also very few services
which help these victims.
Many women with intellectual disabilities
are still living in big institutions.
They may experience violence in such places.
For example, women in institutions are often not allowed to have a family and become mothers.
They may even get medicine for contraception
or experience sterilisation against their will.
Inclusion Europe has now started a research
into this problem.
We receive money from the Open Society Foundation
to do this research.
We will use the results to find better policies
and practices to protect women
with intellectual disabilities from violence.
